What 3D scanning is for
- Copying parts — when there is no drawing but there is a sample
- Reverse engineering — the scan is the basis for an editable CAD model → Reverse engineering
- Quality and geometry inspection — we compare a manufactured part with the CAD model or a reference and produce a colour-map deviation report
- Designing custom-fit parts — so a new part fits an existing surface exactly, for example in a car interior or a machine
- Car and motorbike parts — we scan body and interior trim, engine bay parts, motorbike fairings and brackets to copy, improve or adapt a part
- Documentation — a digital archive of equipment, tooling and unique objects
Our capabilities
- Precision laser scanning: accuracy up to 0.04 mm, objects from 1 cm to 4 m
- Fast colour scanning: for detailed and coloured objects
- Output formats: STL, OBJ, PLY; after reverse engineering — STEP
For large objects, accuracy depends on size — we will state the accuracy for your job in the quote.
3D scanning for car and motorbike parts
We scan parts that are no longer available or are too expensive: interior panels and buttons, air vents, clips, caps, brackets, mirror housings, motorbike fairing parts and mounts. We can also scan the spot in the car so that a new part, such as a holder, panel or adapter, fits exactly. After scanning we build the model and print the part in a durable material, for example ASA or a carbon-fibre composite. → Car and motorbike spare parts
A model for printing in our workshop, or a file for you
After scanning, we prepare the model in one of two ways:
- For printing with us. We prepare the model only for printing in our workshop and do not hand over the file. This costs less, because the model does not need to be fully editable.
- For file handover. We prepare a complete file (STL or editable STEP) that you can use yourself or pass on to a manufacturer. This takes more work, so it costs more.
We will recommend the right option in the quote.
How scanning works
- Bring the object to our workshop in Riga, Lubānas iela 78 (by appointment), or have us come to you — on-site visit from €60.50 (€50 excl. VAT).
- We prepare the surface. Shiny, transparent or very dark surfaces get a special matting coating that later evaporates or is easy to remove.
- We scan and process the data — removing noise, merging scans and filling holes.
- We deliver the result — a file, a deviation report or a ready CAD model.
Good to know
- We scan external surfaces; the scanner cannot see hidden internal cavities.
- Very small parts (under 1 cm) and transparent objects may need extra preparation.
Price
The price depends on the object’s size, complexity and the result you need (scan only or CAD model). 3D scanning from €15, on-site visit from €60.50 (€50 excl. VAT). We send a quote within one working day. → Prices and ordering
